Name: Pascal
Canon: Tales of Graces
Canon point: End-game (pre f arc)
Age: 22
Appearance: Pascal! Her white fading to red hair is commonly seen among all Amarcians in varying degrees, some have more of one colour than the other or have vary shades but the red and white colour mix is always there. She's normally all smiles and full of energy except for when it's exceptionally hot, such as when in a desert, where Pascal is reduced to just murmuring and you have to get really close up and put your ear to her mouth to understand what she's saying. Most of the time she's loud and incredibly open and friendly, even around people she has just met. Pascal is a very animated sort of person so it's easy to tell when she's excited, feeling down, etc. She's very laid back and relaxed and ever her stance in battle has her hopping back and forth cheerily. Her running animation involves her moving around with her shotstaff over her shoulder in a very casual fashion, almost as if she isn't in battle at all.
Background: Prior to being found by Sophie and meeting up with the party, Pascal had been travelling around the world for three years conducting research and looking into the origins of the Amarcian tribe. In this time she was also conducting research into cryas which lead to her creating a huge crater in front of the town of Velanik during an experiment. The pressure created when extracting fire eleth from cryas lead to a chain reaction, which whilst fine in contained circumstances would lead to a catastrophe if conducted on a large scale. Deeming the results to be far too dangerous and seeing where this sort of work might be headed Pascal stopped her research into extracting eleth from fire cryas and continued on looking for the roots of the Amarcians. Eventually her searching brings her to Lake Grale... Which she decides to swim across with a little bit of splish splish splashing, after which she uncovers some ruins created by the Amarcians and goes down to take a look just before coming back out and plopping down to take a nap on the other side. You know, as you do after swimming across an entire lake.
When Sophie happens across Pascal she slowly wakes up and grabs Sophie by the shoulders! Sophie attacks Pascal and sends her flying away. Asbel and Richard come over to check what's going on when Pascal insists on wanting to touch Sophie again. Asbel gets defensive and demands to know who she is, after which Pascal introduces herself. She tells the party that she saw an illusion which looked just like Sophie in the ruins she recently explored, which is also a good shortcut around Wallbridge seeing as there are no soldiers down there and it isn't guarded, Wallbridge being in the way of Richard reaching Gralesyde and meeting with Duke Dalen. Pascal offers to show the party through the ruins as well as the illusion she saw and tags along.
Once in the ruins Pascal explains they were created by the Amarcians and admits to being 'something like' an archaeologist. Eventually after a little puzzle solving the party comes across the device which shows the illusions Pascal was talking about. At this time the party is attacked by the Merourlus but it is soon defeated. Pascal soon goes back to the device, explaining how easy it is to use even though her instructions go right over Asbel's head. With a little bit of fiddling around the device eventually displays an image of Sophie. Pascal explains that that's why she wanted to touch Sophie so badly. The device breaks down and because of its age Pascal finds it hard to read the words on the panel, though she is able to make out the words 'Lambda' before the party moves on.
Having seen illusion and made it through the ruins, Pascal insists on tagging along with Asbel, Richard and Sophie to Gralesyde with her reason for doing so being that she wants to get closer to Sophie. Whilst the party seems unsure about allowing Pascal to join them, Richard agrees to letting her join them despite how eccentric she seems.
Richard meets with Duke Dalen and the two discuss methods for attacking Wallbridge, seeing as it is occupied by enemy soldiers and Richard is intending to build up his own force of troops in order to head back to Barona and reclaim the throne from his uncle Cedric who tried to do away with Richard in trying to claim the throne. Pascal explains the ruins earlier hide a second device which can be used to reach the middle of Wallbridge without having to worry about being spotted. Asbel asks if he can lead the assault on Wallbridge whilst asking Pascal if she minds helping out with the devices in the ruins, which she agrees to. Richard accompanies the two of them along with Sophie.
The assault on Wallbridge goes forth. It's an awful maze of ladders and levers and more ladders and honestly who creates a fortress like this?! In their exploration of Wallbridge an enemy soldier attacks and seemingly kills Richard. Pascal and Sophie restrain the soldier so to stop him from calling reinforcements. Richard rises to his feet, seemingly fine from the attempt on his life and proceeds to slaughter the soldier in a fit of rage. Pascal shields Sophie from the sight whilst Asbel looks on. Richard suddenly calms himself and Pascal doesn't find any injuries on him despite him being recently attacked. With Richard in good health the party continues with their assault and opens one of the gates to let in Duke Dalen's soldiers in from Gralesyde. Malik, Asbel's instructor, confronts and fights the party Wallbridge, though the party is able to fight him off.
From this point, Pascal takes more of a backseat in the party and tags along during the conclusion of the assault on Wallbridge, meeting up with Cheria and Richard's attack on Barona castle. Pascal helps the party in defeating Cedric, after which Richard brutally kills him before taking the throne back. She then sticks around as the party returns to Lhant
During their time in Yu Liberte the party discovers that Stahta's valkines cryas is not acting properly which is effecting the environment. The way Hubert is currently running things at Lhant is not producing enough cryas for Strahta and with Strahta already experiencing a cryas shortage is resulting in an overall low level of cryas. As the water eleth inside the valkines cryas is what allows Yu Liberte to thrive despite being in the middle of the desert running low on cryas would have a negative effect on the nation. To help solve the problem with Stahta's valkines, Pascal draws up a diagram which should help fix the valkines if properly followed. The party is shocked to find Pascal knows so much about valkines to which Pascal admits she just likes learning about stuff, even though she's able to produce a complex diagram about fixing the valkines cryas from just hearing about the situation and have read some books on valkines in the past.
Asbel takes Pascal's diagram to the president who tells Asbel that Hubert might be able to stay positioned in Lhant providing there are results. The president asks Asbel to take Pascal to the valkines in hopes of her being able to find a way to properly repair the valkines and solve their cryas problem. The party ventures into the desert and into the ruins the valkines, Duplemar, is located inside. Once they arrive at the valkines Pascal is quick to examine the valkines' condition. She's able to locate a part of the valkines which is broken which is causing interference. Though she seems to know what she's doing Pascal admits to just be winging the repair job though her methods of bringing out 'Mr.Drill' and smacking the valkines with a hammer seem to fix it. It is then that Richard arrives riding on the back of a flying monster and attacks the party. Though the party is able to fend off the monsters Richard is able to reach the valkines. Scientists at the valkines report that Richard is draining the valkines of eleth, eventually leaving nothing left before fleeing. Pascal is unable to do anything to save the valkines with it being completely drained, leaving the party to return to the president to tell him what had happened.
Returning to Yu Liberte, Asbel and the party meet with the president, finding that Hubert has also come to Yu Liberte as well. Hubert reports that Richard also absorbed the eleth from the valkines in Barona and vanished, leaving the capital in chaos. The president aims to find a way to help his nation with dealing without their valkines and also finding out Richard's true objective for draining the valkines. Hubert is ordered to accompany Asbel into finding out Richard's motives, allowing Hubert to pick the next governor of Lhant whilst he is investigating with Asbel. The party and the president believe Richard will target the next valkines in Fendel and so the party aims to head there through Warrior's Roost, a coliseum located en route to the port in Fendel. A spy there should help the party with getting into Fendel as ties between Fendel and the other nations are poor.
During the boat ride from Stahta's port to Warrior's Roost, Hubert asks Pascal how she was able to help with the valkines problem. She says it was just intuition which Hubert refuses to believe. Asbel tries to convince Hubert that that's just how Pascal is, though Hubert is far too suspicious of Pascal at this point to listen and says he will continue to keep a sharp eye on her whilst they are travelling together.
Upon reaching Warrior's Roost it is discovered that the spy that was to help the party into Fendel cannot meet with the party as her commanding officer has grown suspicious of her. Meanwhile Pascal is trying to get a closer look at the weapons the Fendelian soldiers are carrying which leads to the soldiers chasing her. The commotion catches the attention of the soldier's commanding officer who assumes Asbel's party has something to do with the spy. Hubert quickly steps in and convinces the officer they are not related and are instead here to fight and challenge Riot Peak. In confidence the officer laughs at the party and lets them go, further agreeing to release the spy he is suspicious of if the party can defeat them during the challenge. A skit in the area reveals that the weapons the soldiers were carrying resemble something Pascal had an idea some time ago which is why she was so interested in finding out more about them.
The party progresses up Riot Peak and fights the commanding officer's team, eventually besting them and rescuing the spy. Though the officer is reluctant to hand her over the guardian of Riot Peak steps in to handle the situation. Once the spy has been freed the party boards a boat to Fendel. Pascal gets sick and throws up EVERYWHERE. Meanwhile Malik is being all mysterious about his past which makes Hubert suspicious of him too, as well as Pascal.
On their way to the Fendel capital, heading towards Velanik, the party comes across the crater Pascal had made in the past during her experiments. She explains that the cryas in Fendel is unstable which makes it difficult to control, resulting in explosions and craters like the one here. She doesn't admit to creating the crater herself however. Cheria asks Pascal how she knows so much about Fendel, the area and its cryas to which Pascal explains it's just a 'coinkydink'.
Upon entering Velanik the party helps two children with gathering cryas fragments so they can use the cryas to heat the inn their mother owns by hunting down strahteme horns from monsters which carry large amounts of cryas. After staying the night the party moves on to the next port to reach the capital, Zavhert. During the boat ride to Zavhert Hubert expresses his suspicions about Pascal and Malik to Asbel, fully believing they are both hiding more than they are letting on.
As the party reaches Zavhert they are surrounded by Fendel troops who don't recognise the party. Malik is able to convince the troops that the party was on a mission in Windor by showing the troops Fendelian military credentials, after which the party is free to move on. During their time in Zavhert the party asks around about the whereabouts of the valkines and finds out information about Fendel performing experiments on their valkines with the help of the Amarcians in order to extract eleth directly from the valkines. Asbel is under the belief that the Amarcians are all extinct and is talking about this with Cheria when Pascal cuts in. She tells the party about the crater outside Velanik and how a cryas explosion created it, and then talks about how if the same thing happened with the entire valkines what sort of effect that would have on Fendel and how it would cause an even larger explosion, so big it would wipe out all of Zavhert. The reason that Pascal knows all this about the valkines and the cryas in Fendel is because of the research she conducted earlier and stopped working on when it proved too dangerous to continue. The soldiers in Warrior's Roost had weapons based off of Pascal's research which is why she was so interested in finding out more about them in the first place. Asbel thought the Fendelians were getting help from Amarcian technology though, after which Pascal mentions that she's an Amarcian herself. The party is clearly shocked by this but Pascal doesn't seem to mind. Hubert confronts her over this, demanding to know why she concealed her origins but she shrugs the question off as 'you never asked'. Hubert gets visibly annoyed and shifts over to confronting Malik about his military credentials. leading to Malik admitting that whilst he was an instructor in Windor he was originally from Fendel. Hubert refuses to travel further with Pascal and Malik as practisers of deceit. Before the conversation can progress Fendelian soldiers arrive and attempt to arrest Malik, leading to the party fleeing towards Mt.Zavhert and the Amarcian enclave.
As the party traverses the mountain a wild boar appears. Hubert scoffs at the boar and turns his back on it, leading to Pascal shoving him out of the way when the boar decides to charge at him. Malik explains that the harsh environment has affected the animals on the mountain to the point they have become savage beasts. The party then fights and defeats the boar when it comes back for a second charge. With the boar dispatched Hubert apologises to Pascal who doesn't seem to mind at all, claiming that 'one of the team was in danger' with a smile. He apologises to Malik as well for the way he had acted, believing the two of them to have been untrustworthy up until now. Pascal says everything is right as rain now, but Hubert insists on paying her back. At first Pascal asks Hubert to carry the boar carcass to the Amarcian enclave, but she changes her mind and tells Hubert to promise to be her friend instead.
Once they reach the Amarcian enclave Pascal tells the party that the Amarcians had been helping Fendel for some time now but it had been kept under wraps. They head to Pascal's room where she is unable to find her notes on cryas. In order to find out whole took her notes Pascal suggests they go see the Overseer. In order to talk to the Overseer everything needs to go through her assistant Poisson as the Overseer has long since stopped talking to others. Pascal asks if they can get into the Archive of Wisdom, which is a big hall with lots of information inside it that the Amarcians have learnt. Poisson says that only the Overseer can enter the archive of wisdom and the party is not allowed entry. When asked about the experiments on the Fendel valkines Poisson says she knows of them and that everything is progressing smoothly. Pascal explains that the experiments being run are probably using her research would could end in catastrophe unless something is done to stop the experiments. Whilst Poisson says the Overseer and herself have no authority to stop the experiments Poisson tells Pascal that her sister, Fourier, is the one running the experiments and she's currently in a libratory located further down Mt.Zavhert. Pascal excuses herself to go and investigate the lab herself but Asbel says the party will travel with her to meet Fourier.
When the party finds the lab Pascal is amazed at how big Fourier's lab is, shedding a little light on Fourier's personality. She's the older sister that Pascal looks up to, calling her an idol. Everyone enters the lab and starts searching for Fourier's whereabouts, discovering biologically engineered monsters. Malik explains that Fendel was looking into biological weaponry shortly before one of the monsters attack the party. With the monster dealt with Fourier shows up and is surprised the party was able to dispatch her creation so easily. Pascal immediately runs over to talk with Fourier who is surprised to see Pascal, thinking the party members were a group of intruders looking to take her work. When Pascal asks about the valkines experiments Fourier quickly becomes defensive and says whilst she used Pascal's research as a starting point it's the end results that matter most. Pascal tries to explain but instead decides to show Fourier why extracting eleth from fire cryas is a bad idea by using a piece of fire cryas as an example. Using Fourier's lab equipment, Pascal starts extracting eleth from the cryas, leading to a chain reaction from the pressure, causing an explosion and blowing up some of the equipment. Pascal explains that was why she stopped her research in the first place but Fourier says she can't stop the experiments herself. Pascal offers to help but Fourier gets upset at Pascal. Whilst Pascal had worked out what was going to happen and gave up on continuing her research, Fourier had worked hard on completing Pascal's work. She becomes angrier, saying she kills herself in trying to be successful only for Pascal to sweep in and one up her with no effort at all. Pascal is devastated and looks down whilst Fourier and Asbel talk about the whereabouts of the valkines. Whilst Fourier herself doesn't know, she tells the party that Kurt Bessel, the man in charge of the experiments, does, and that he's located in the capital in the ministry of science. Pascal doesn't speak up for the rest of the conversation.
Upon leaving the lab Pascal is still upset, having no idea about how Fourier felt about her. She wants to apologise though Hubert talks her out of it. Asbel and Hubert tell her that by stopping the experiments they'll be able to save her reputation and maybe even Fourier's life. Hubert also adds that they need Pascal, leading to Pascal crying for a moment outside the lab before moving on.
With the ministry located inside Fendel Tower, the party acquires a security pass from an Amarcian working in the tower named Fermat and enter unhindered. They climb the tower to Kurt's office where they start looking around for any information that might be able to tell them about the location of the valkines. During the search Kurt returns to the lab and admits to leading the experiments on the valkines, believing it to better the people of Fendel by extracting large amount of eleth. Though Pascal tells Kurt about the dangers of doing so, Kurt ignores her and says the experiment will go ahead, having conducted his own work on top of Pascal and Fourier's own. Kurt is in full belief that without these experiments his country of Fendel will perish. In their time in his office, the party is able to find the location of the valkines Forbrannir in the glacial ruins before Kurt threatens to call the guards on them.
With the location of the valkines known, the party heads out to stop the experiments on the valkines on their own. Making their way through the ruins. the party confronts Kurt who goes ahead with the experiment to extract eleth before the party can act. With many machines and other equipment set up to extract eleth, the valkines starts reacting to the pressure. Kurt and the party engage in battle with Kurt eventually being defeated. Chancellor Eigen, who had arrived to be present at the experiment, ordered the machines that extract eleth to be pushed up to maximum power. putting a dangerous amount of strain on Forbrannir. With the emergency shutdown not responding Pascal takes it upon herself to destroy the main outflow pipe. Cheria tries to persuade her otherwise due to the danger, but Pascal insists as none of this would ever have happened if it weren't for her research. Kurt stops her however and destroys the pipe himself. Though he is able to stop the machines in doing so Kurt also badly injures himself beyond recovery. He asks Pascal to complete her research in order to save his country and his people as Fendel cannot survive without a working valkines. Malik and Kurt briefly exchange words before he passes on. Before long Richard shows up again and drains the valkines of its eleth. He and Sophie fight briefly though he escapes again. With the three valkines cryas all drained the party does not know where Richard will strike next. Chancellor Eigen sets Fendel soldiers on the party soon after and threatens to do away with them, but Poisson shows up as the representative of the Overseer and diffuses the situation, causing Eigen to leave and reconsider his ties with Strahta and Windor as there is no other time such as now where everyone should band together. Poisson tells the party that the Overseer thinks that Richard will next strike at the Lastalia which is at the core of the planet and the true source of the cryas. She then hands Pascal the key to the Archive of Wisdom, explaining there will be even more information that even the Overseer doesn't know about the Lastalia there, the Overseer having bent the rules this once in light of recent events.
Everyone heads back to the Amarcian enclave and enters the Archive of Wisdom in order to learn more about the Lastalia. Asbel recognises the device in the Archive of Wisdom as the same one which showed an illusion of Sophie back at the ruins under Wallbridge, leading to Pascal explaining that they're similar. Pascal uses the device to look up information regarding the Lastalia, learning that eleth is produced in the Lastalia and stored in cryas and valkines cryas and that the valkines exist to stabilize the eleth produced. They come to the conclusion that if Richard reached the Lastalia the world would die from lack of eleth. Pascal is able to find a way down to the Lastalia at a location called World's Eye, as well as coming across the name 'Lambda' again. Lambda apparently tried the same thing Richard is doing in the past. She also uncovers a poem about 'the saviour from Fodra' and 'the seed of destruction' though Pascal doesn't know what any of this means. Sophie seems to recall something about these words though, leading to Cheria taking her outside as she tries to remember properly. Asbel asks how Lambda was stopped in the past, to which Pascal replies that 'Protos Heis' stopped him. A connection is made between the poem and Lamba, with Lamba being the seed of destruction and Protos Heis being the saviour from Fodra.
The party sails to World's Eye by boat. Soon after arriving Richard appears before the party though he seems in pain with his body being unable to withstand all of the eleth it has absorbed up until now. A battle ensues, after which Richard writhes around in pain, holding his head. He begs not to be killed, leading to Sophie to step forward to talk to him. Richard refers to her as 'Protos Heis' which seems to stun Sophie long enough as she deals with her memories for Richard to attack Sophie, attempting to kill her. With Sophie defeated, Richard rises up into the air and proceeds to encase World's Eye in a cocoon made with his power. Asbel picks up Sophie and carries her as they and the rest of the party retreat back to the ship.
Sophie eventually reawakens at Zavhert port with her wounds full healed by Cheria and Hubert. Despite that she still seems to be in pain and mentions that she can't see anymore, her eyesight becoming nothing more than a blur. Pascal explains that if they don't do something soon she might become completely blind. Hubert and Cheria have no success healing her with artes or medicine, eventually turning to Pascal for help on what to do next. Pascal has no idea what else they can do and says they should take her to an inn for the time being.
Once Sophie is inside and asleep, Pascal tells Asbel that she doesn't think Sophie is human like the rest of them due to the way she's reacting. She comes to the conclusion that since Richard called her 'Protos Heis', who was said to have come from Fodra in reference to that poem read earlier, that a cure for Sophie's condition lies on Fodra. Whilst Pascal is aware that it's a long shot it's the only option the party has as medicine and artes aren't improving Sophie's health. Pascal says they need to return to the Archive of Wisdom so she can find out how they can get to Fodra whilst also stating that she thinks Lambda and Richard are closely related and as such they should keep their eyes peeled. Before they can leave Poisson and the Overseer arrive at the inn. The Overseer speaks directly to Pascal, telling her that the information she needs is in another archive, the lost archive, which is kept back in Sable Izolle, where the Amarcians used to reside. The party heads out to board a boat back to Strahta to head to Sable Izolle without Sophie, though she insists on coming along anyway. The party is also given a letter to give to the Strahtan president from Chancellor Eigen in order to mend ties between Fendel and Strahta. Pascal also receives the pigeon communicator from Poisson which allows them to communicate over long distances.
Through travelling to Sable Izolle and uncovering the lost archive, the party is able to locate a shuttle and make all the necessary preparations that will allow them to travel to Fodra. With Poisson's help in preparing the ship for takeoff the shuttle speeds along a ramp, ready to fly up into the aquasphere towards Fodra. Monsters from the cocoon appear to stop the shuttle, but Fourier appears on her monsters to fight the creatures, protecting the shuttle and allowing it to take off safely into the sky.
Upon landing on Fodra it turns out the planet is barren and dying, filled with strange monsters. Upon exploring Fodra they come across Emeraude who had been in a deep slumber only to be awoken now by the party's arrival. She recognises Sophie as Protos Heis and explains she is a humanoid who was created for the sole purpose of defeating Lambda. Emeraude mentions that Sophie might be able to be cured at the humanoid research institute which the party immediately heads to. Inside, Emeruade tries to repair Sophie, resulting in her memories and emotions being made manifest during the process. The party sees images of Pascal chasing and laughing with Sophie, Asbel meeting Sophie as a child, Malik and Sophie posing together and other memories of the rest of the party, including Richard. However rather than a happy, light hearted image Sophie and Richard start to fight. Eventually these images come together to form a fearsome creature that was discovered years ago when Asbel was a child in the Barona catacombs and that originally killed Sophie. That creature was Lambda. The party fights and defeats the image of Lambda which seems to cure Sophie. Emeraude returns all of Sophie's past memories to her in regards to her prime function of defeating Lambda and in doing so the party catches glimpses of some more images, ones of a man named Cornell playing with a small boy named Lambda. Emeraude insists that Lambda is a monster who should be destroyed, despite these illusions. The party is left conflicted in regards to Lambda, eventually coming to the conclusion Lambda had possessed and taken over Richard. During their exploration of the institute, Emeraude reveals that the Amarcians weren't a special group of people or any different from humans. Instead, 'Amarcia' was just the name used for a coalition of research engineers that maintained the technologies of Fodra and that none of them shared any blood ties before migrating to Ephinea. Pascal at first seems shocked and a little disheartened but she's soon over this revelation.
In order to make their way to Richard back on Ephinea and pierce the cocoon he erected the party needs to acquire an extra part for their shuttle within the Bathus Citadel, a weapons institute on Fodra. The party fights through numerous humanoid enemies before finding the material they need to make the part, derris ore. Pascal is able to use the machinery in the citadel to create the part they need, the Derris Bit. Emeraude praises Pascal on her work, which is to be expected of a great Amarcian and a great engineer such as her. Whilst there, Pascal also creates two Derris Rings which allow Malik and herself to harness Sophie's power for themselves, just as Asbel, Cheria and Hubert have been doing up until now. The reason for this being due to the fact those three where present when Sophie was killed seven years ago by Lambda in Barona Catacombs, resulting in them inheriting some of her power as a restorative process. With the Derris Bit installed on the shuttle the party returns to Ephinea with Emeruade asking to join them. On their return the shuttle accelerates and crashes through the cocoon surrounding World's Eye.
The party quickly makes their way to Richard inside of the cocoon whose body has become warped and deformed from being under the possession of Lambda. Richard fights again and is defeated, resulting in Lambda leaving Richard's body and floating in the air in the form of a black and red glowing orb. Sophie steps forward to deal with Lambda, but Emeruade attacks Sophie and downs her. With Sophie out of the way Emeraude moves in and takes Lambda's power for herself, ushering him into her own body. A second fight ensues against a possessed Emeraude which ends in Lambda rejecting Emeraude as her host. Lambda ends up destroying Emeraude's body. Richard, now back on his feet from the recent fight, calls Lambda back into his own body before escaping to the planet's core to the Lastalia. Sophie tries to pursue him but Asbel holds her back as the party quickly escapes to avoid the cocoon crashing down on them. On the shuttle Sophie and the party argue about her wanting to destroy Lambda and in doing so destroying herself.
Back in Lhant, Asbel and Sophie talk to one another with Asbel telling Sophie just how important she is and how they'll defeat Lambda and Richard without Sophie sacrificing herself to do so. Asbel then proceeds to have individual talks with each of the party members before getting some rest and heading out to the Lastalia at the bottom of the Ghardia Shaft. Journeying down towards the Lastalia, the party finds out about what really happened on Fodra with Lambda and how Richard and Lambda first came together. Lambda was originally a demon placed within a humanoid body by Cornell. Emeraude insisted there was no need for Lambda to be treated as a human citing ethical concerns. A string of events lead to Emeruade having Cornell taken away and Lambda's humanoid body being shut down. Eventually Cornell is able to escape with Lambda from Fodra, now back in his humanoid body. During their escape, Emeraude appears and tries to kill them. Cornell protects Lambda and the two make it to a shuttle bound for Ephinea. Before the shuttle doors close Emeruade's humanoids fire and hit Cornell. As the shuttle takes off Cornell lies dying on the floor. He speaks to Lambda once more he dies with the shuttle eventually crash landing on Ephinea. Years later when Sophie and Lambda fought in the catacombs, it is shown how Richard and Lambda come together to survive. With Richard weak from Cedric's poison he would not survive unless he accepted Lambda.
Finally the party reaches the Lastalia and meets with Richard and Lambda. They all fight again, with Richard losing and asking Asbel to grant him mercy and kill him. Lambda however fights back and tries to destroy Richard's body like he had with Emeraude's, having no need for a host who has given up. Asbel leaps forward and pulls Richard free from Lambda's grasp, restoring him back to normal. The final battle with Lambda follows with him eventually being left once again without a host. Sophie readies herself to dispatch Lambda with her powers but Asbel steps in and takes Lambda into his own body. He falls unconscious and fights Lambda within his mind, eventually convincing Lambda to start anew. Asbel then awakens with heterochromia as a symbol of Lambda laying dormant inside of him.
The ending of the game shows Pascal working hard on the valkines in Zavhert, intent on completing her research like Kurt asked of her. Fourier shows up and asks Pascal how long it's been since she last bathed, which turns out to be one full week. Pascal says she doesn't mind bathing, it's just there's never enough hot water. Fourier then gives Pascal the idea for everyone to use the valkines for heat and for boiling their water through a series of pipes.
Previous Game History: N/A
Personality:
Pascal is incredibly eccentric in how she talks and acts. She often seems to talk in onomatopoeia, saying things like clunk, kabang, whoosh and a whole array of other things. These words often litter her explanations even if it makes her incredibly difficult to follow at times. Rather than explaining properly how to turn on a device and tap in some coordinates she would much rather flick on the dongle and give the whoozit and f'tang. If that wasn't silly enough she comes out with some of the most inane things even when she isn't throwing sound effects around, such as talking about getting lost in serious thought about thinking more seriously.
Though the way she acts seems to grate on the rest of the party at times she doesn't notice at all. Even when Hubert outright says she doesn't trust her Pascal just keeps on keeping on. She even thanks people when they're clearly insulting her or pointing out one of her flaws. Nothing seems to get to Pascal to the point of annoying or angering her. She's always full of smiles with her volume controls constantly stuck on high. There are times where Pascal might get worked up over something but not to the point of anger, such as losing at the 'silent game'... Which she was playing with herself.
She's a genius, no doubt about it. Even by the standards of the Amarcians she's definitely up there with the best minds the world has to offer. Learning about new things is just something she enjoys doing so she tends to soak up all sorts of information on all sorts of different topics, often being able to cite information like it's nothing later on. If there's something she doesn't know then she'll know where to go to find out. Once she's on to something that genuinely interests her Pascal will ramble on about whatever the subject is and will go into great depths when discussing it. Conversely, when talking about something that doesn't pique her interest she might just reply with a one word answer or show little enthusiasm in it. When asked about the Amarcian enclave she explains that 'it's a place where there are lots of people who are just like me' and leaves it at that. It's so obvious when Pascal is either excited about something or not that Hubert even makes a note of it for later.
Expanding from her status as a genius, Pascal is a master engineer and there isn't a machine out there that she wouldn't be able to figure out. She's great at repairing things even if her methods for doing so are all over the place and she might not seem to know what she's doing. If tools fail then smacking the machine around will definitely get it running properly! Before leaving for the Ghardia Shaft she's even seen fiddling around with tools and trying to finish something before having to go off and face Richard and Lambda, eventually being told by Fourier to stop and go to bed to get some rest.
Even though she's the smartest member of the party and one of the greatest minds out there Pascal severely lacks common sense. She rarely is able to read the atmosphere and often can't detect things like sarcasm and so ends up taking everything seriously, or as seriously as Pascal can take something anyway. When hearing about how she chants artes in her sleep and that Sophie beats her up to keep her quiet she ends up thanking Sophie with a smile, not questioning this at all or wondering if there might be a better solution. She tends to miss finer points and subtleties of subjects she isn't interested and even then if someone tells her something flat out it might take a moment for something to register, if at all. What's more there are cases where Pascal might look into something to the point of knowing what to do, trying out what her research has told her and then finishing the rest of her work later, such as when she has Cheria perform acupuncture on her without looking into what acupuncture actually does.
Her work and research takes priority over most other things, spending days on end and even weeks doing nothing but concentrating on her work and furthering her progress. The ending has Poisson trying to persuade Pascal to leave the valkines in Zavhert because of how much time she's been spending down there working. Sometimes she goes off mumbling to herself about research and even deprives herself of sleep to get something done though its normally the baths she cuts out first before the sleeping. Pascal rarely bathes and when she does it's only when someone forces her to so you might end up being able to smell Pascal coming before you see her if she hasn't been in the bath for a week or more. What's more she's able to tell how long it's been since her last bath just by taking a whiff of herself. She doesn't mind the smell, but this is coming from a person who likes the stench of natto which, based on party reactions, smells vile to the extent of being vomit inducing.
Though there is little that can make Pascal properly sad or angry the one thing that does get to her is her sister Fourier. She loves and adores her sister and is completely devastated upon finding out her sister hates her for how she excels in almost every area of research with little effort whilst Fourier needs to work hard to get to where she is, only to still be second to Pascal in the end anyway. Despite this Pascal only wants Fourier to know that she loves her. After the party talks to her about it and she cries for a moment she agrees to work hard for the sake of her sister rather than going back and apologising to her which could only make things worse.
She likes bananas. Like wow. Bananas. Also banana pie and the colour yellow, you know, like bananas. She would gladly live off of them if she could and at one point eats so many that she throws up everywhere... And then asks Malik if she grossed him out like it's nothing. Her love of bananas is also related to her work with the valkines as bananas and valkines are shaped like each other.
Skills and Powers: Pascal is a highly experienced practitioner of shotstaff and glyph artes. She seems very skilled at firing at enemies with her staff though she is also capable of hitting people with it like a club. Her glyph artes vary in use though most seem to concentrate on attacking in an area around Pascal, such as Pyrogenic Ring which lets out a burst of intense heat in the area around Pascal and Maelstrom which conjures a swirling whirlpool around Pascal to damage enemies. Some of her artes concentrate on bringing enemies closer to her, such as Magnetic Gate, whilst others serve to buff and strengthen allies attack and defence like Assault Sign and Rampart Sign. Pascal can even heal nearby allies with Shining Field. There are then artes like Trinity Bit and Enflame which are used to further augment Pascal's abilities by summoning three multi-coloured shields to protect her and increasing the range of Pascal's normal attack respectively.
Past her shotstaff and glyph artes, Pascal is also capable of summoning Grim Sylphie, Cyandine and Bloodflamme to help her attack in battle both in the forms of normal glyph artes and her Mystic Artes Emerald Strike, Sapphiring Squad and Ruby Inferno which involve Pascal teaming up with one of the spirits for each attack.
Outside of battle Pascal is extremely tech savvy and it seems as though she's quickly able to understand any technology she's able to lay her hands on. Even on Fodra, a whole other planet, Pascal is able to use the machines there with ease though they were of Amarcian descent. She's also an expert at repairing broken items or objects despite the strange methods she uses. She seems to rely more on instinct and what feels right rather than her actually knowing what to do, leading to her 'winging it' an awful lot of the time.
Pascal is a fantastic puzzle solver, being able to explain some of the game's puzzles inside of dungeons via skits at some point or another, as well as being a master of the Amarcian game Shot Cube which involves sliding ice blocks into a rectangle shape using a shotstaff. At one point, having explained how to solve a floor puzzle in the ruins around Strahta's valkines, Cheria comments that these sorts of puzzles are more Pascal's thing than anyone else's.
Items: Pascal will be coming along with her shotstaff, a long weapon with a decorative looking head which can fold over to act as a rifle whilst also being able to act as a staff for hitting and for using glyph artes. Additionally Pascal will also be bringing her pigeon communicator. She will also be bringing along Mr.Drill, a hand drill which looks like a miniature industrial style drill and her long handled hammer. For hitting/fixing things.
For her mirror something like this would be just grand: http://www.migmirrors.co.uk/images/mirror/kitchen/banana.jpg, only the size of a compact mirror if that's okay.

Action:
[There are some big, round eyes staring you down, mirror. Sure the shape is pretty good but... Even then you're just a mirror. You reflect stuff, you can be used to talk to other people on a whole other network of whacky mirrory doo-dahs... Still. Just a mirror.]
Y'know if I made a little kathunk-a-chunk here and maybe a... No, wait, I need a big thunk thunk right here! Yeah, that's it! Screwdriver, screwdriver... Ah-ha! Here we go!
[The woman on the other side of the mirror doesn't seem to be looking back so much as she's looking past the mirror, around it. It's easy to hear the sound of tools moving around as Pascal bites her tongue and works hard on... Something.]
A final adjustment here aaaand voila! It's finished! Now to test this baby out. Three, two one... Shazzam!!
[Suddenly the mirror lights up! It's so bright it's impossible to see, though it's possible to hear the sound of a wall crumbling and falling away. When the light subsides there seems to be a hole in the wall opposite of where Pascal was standing. A suspiciously banana shaped mirror hole.]
Wooow, I nearly took my eyebrows off with that thing. This is so cool, maybe I can make everyone's mirrors do the same thing! They'd all be so happy right?! Hey, everyone, who wants a real magic mirror huh!?
[A magic mirror that shoots laser beams.]
Third Person Prose:
Considering this place was meant to be all about healing Pascal really wasn't getting that sort of impression from walking around Niramaya. Gardens are nice and all but what's so restorative about a spa? Are there baths involved?! No way could a torture like that be considered 'healing'. Nope, this place was in dire need of an Amarcian touch.
With her hands on her hips, Pascal circles a particularly appealing patch of grass in one of the gardens. She seems to be talking to herself under her breath for the most part but before long she's speaking louder and louder, eventually even shouting.
"Step one, we get some chocolate from that Fantasia place. Step two, we use pipes and mirrors to make it flow into here. Step seven, chocolate fountain!! Everything will go so well to plan there won't be any need for three to six, the rest will write itself!"
With that exclamation out of the way she throws herself down onto the grass and starts swinging her arms and legs back and forth. It seems as though she would be making a snow angel if there were even any snow around. Rather, in her mind, Pascal is creating a chocolate angel. A delicious chocolate angel.
